WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR DESIGNS
Accepted File Types
Not all file formats are equal. Vector images are ideal for DTF printing, while PNGs are the preferred choice for raster images.
Color Considerations
Like all CMYK printing processes, DTF is restricted to colors within the CMYK range.
Required Line Width
For standalone lines (those not part of a larger image), the minimum recommended width is 0.019". Anything narrower may not adhere well to your garment.
Image Resolution/Pixel Count
For raster images, a pixel count of 300 DPI (dots per inch) is ideal. Lower DPI can lead to pixelation in the final print. The gang sheet builder will alert you if your image resolution is too low.
Show Through and Hand Feel
Increased show-through (negative space) in your image enhances breathability and improves the hand feel of the final product.
Semitransparent Pixels and White Outlines
When submitting PNG files, ensure there are no semitransparent pixels along the edges of your design, as these may print as thin white outlines.
Soft Edges
Soft edges or fadeouts (like glow effects) can create a white halo around the DTF print. To achieve a fadeout effect without this halo, consider using the halftone technique during your design process.
Transparent Background
Please ensure that your designs have a transparent background. DTF printing will capture everything in the submitted image, including any white backgrounds.
Color Matching
Our printers are calibrated to CIELAB colors, but your monitor may not display colors accurately. To achieve a closer match to what you see on your screen, consider the following options:
- Use an IPS monitor
- Calibrate your monitor
- Purchase a printed color swatch to select colors for your designs.
